Titanium
Oooh. I was in a department store today. Basically the only type of department store in Spain - El Cortes Ingles - there's so many it's almost a monoply. It comes in third on the list of Spain's biggest companies after the state-sponsered oil company Repsol. It's everywhere. Anyways, I went to one of the big ones they have here in Madrid to buy a couple short sleeve dress shirts to wear to work. This type of leave-it-to-beaver-wear is big here. Women wear European fashions (i.e. almost nothing) and men wear clothes from the 50s. That's cool. I can do that...
I'm digressing to point of not making sense... anyways, I went into the computer section and saw for probably the second time in my life an actual Macintosh Titanium PowerBook. God that thing is gorgeous. It was mid day so there weren't many people there and because I was going shopping just for shirts, my wife wasn't along, so I got to fondle the thing for a good long while without other people in my way or my wife tugging on my sleeve. I ran apps, I pulled up the Unix prompt, I just goggled. I ooohed. I ahhhed. I caressed. I may have drooled... The clerks were looking at me funny, but I didn't care. I told them to mind their own business in English and that seemed to work. Don't mess with the weird scary American.
Who do I have to kill to get that machine? My Dell Latitude feels like a frikin' toy now in comparison. What am I saying, it is a toy. A cheap plastic toy running a semi-operating system. The Mac had a price tag of 5,000 so it's well outside my price range right now. But ooooh. Gosh. Yowza. No need to sell me on it Apple, I've switched. If not in reality then in my dreams...
For anyone reading this who's thinking "this is really old news" well, welcome to Spain. Anyone who's reading this ON a Titanium, I want you dead so I can have your computer.
Okay, now that I'm done being insane. I'm working on Velocity templates right. And as soon as my webserver allows me to FTP in again, I'm going to upload another camblog I took this morning. Just for fun...
