MMS = SMIL
Wow, I was just looking up how to implement mobile multimedia messaging and found this very informative MMS FAQ. One of things I didn't know is that MMS uses the SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) XML format! Wow, what comes around goes around. In 1999 when I started Avedia, Inc. I wanted to create online tutorials and was using SMIL to create the apps, to run into it again a few years later on a totally different platform is pretty wild. That cuts a bit off the ol' learning curve.
However, I'm still having some disconnects about how to get my server on the internet to talk to your telephone. I'm sure I'll have to pay the telecoms for the privelege of communicating through their gateway, but I haven't found out exactly HOW yet. Maybe this MMS page in the Nokia Forum will shed some light...
