A Busy Bee
Well!
So much for that idea... it's like 1:38 a.m. Thursday morning (actually, the date will probabably say Friday... but it's not yet.) I haven't been up this late in a week... I've been exhausted and going to bed at 11:30 at the latest. Parenting life is a doozer!
I've been a busy bee. Work is getting busy and Alex is sucking every other second out of my life. At work we're starting to flesh out the to-do's and who's doing what, etc. It doesn't look too bad. The other consultants have mellowed out a bit, so they're not such a pain in the ass anymore. They were demanding quite a lot... but I think they're starting to realize everyone at the company is not at their beck and call... they were quite the arrogant consultants for a while there.
I seem to be getting along with the Spanish guys pretty well. I was even playing translator a bit today - that's harder than it sounds because it's not like I can translate literally or anything, I don't have the vocabulary for it. So I have to sort of get the idea across - but on technical subjects, so that doesn't always work.
Alex is QUITE the handful right. Ana's on the verge of a breakdown due to lack of sleep and general frustration. He doesn't ever sleep (and so we don't either, much) and he's constantly gassy or upset about something! WOW! Babies are hard-ass work. He's so SERIAL, to put a geek word on it, which means that when you're attending to him, you can't do ANYTHING but attend to him. Even if he's dozing in my lap, I can't browse the web or anything... he just seems to get fussy at a moment's notice, so you get stopped and started quite a lot. Even TV is a lost cause (as if it's not already, being 100% in Spanish).
He's cool though. He'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow and officially a month old on Monday. Wow! Time is flying by!
What else? Well, that's it really. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to be able to do all the little things I want to do (like pass that J2EE certification test) while working and helping Ana with Alex when I get home! Basically, I'm just going to have to look at the things I want to do and cut them back drastically. Until Alex is off to college at least. ;-)
Okay, that's enough for now. It doesn't even come close to describing the chaos around me right now (both chaos and boredom if you can believe that!) It's way too early in the morning and I need to be at work early tomorrow since Summer Hours have begun. That means for the next several months we all work from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and don't take a lunch. It's a Spanish thing (or maybe a Southern European thing... I'll have to check with some Italians to find out...) I HATE waking up early, so it's going to suck. But getting home early will be nice - especially for Ana.
